The survival genre has come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years. So much so that there are thousands of them on the Play Store vying for your attention. This is why we decided to write this list. It’s made of what we think are the very best Android Survival games. There’s a big mix here, from sci-fi epics to pixelated zombie road trips.

ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition
Yes, ARK is available on Android! This open-world survival title drops you on the shores of a strange land full of prehistoric monsters, and challenges you to make the most of that situation. Tame the beasts and master the landscape.. or hide in the shrubbery crying until you get eaten by a T-Rex. The choice is yours.
Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition
A gothic survival game set on an island that’s filled with all kinds of danger. You need to craft, build and fight if you want to stay alive. Oh, and you need to make sure you don’t starve as well, hence the name.
Terraria
An enormous side-scrolling adventure game where you need to dig, build and explore. It’s a whole heap of fun, packed with hours of gameplay and there’s a massive community built up around it as well.
Crashlands
This one’s got a sci-fi twist to it. Your ship crashes on an alien planet and it’s up to you to scavenge up the components to get it fixed. Inevitably, that’s easier said than done. There’s a rich vein of humor here alongside the crafting and scrapping.
Minecraft
One of the big ones in the world of survival games, this blocky sandbox gives you limitless worlds and limitless potential. Survival is a big part, though you can turn it off and just play creatively if you want a blank canvas. Get out there and build whatever you want to.. but watch out for creepers.
Northgard
There’s a strategy twist to this Viking-themed survival adventure. Land on an island and try to establish a new home on the strange continent. There are different clans to play as, beasts to fight and winters to survive.
Radiation Island
A first-person shooter that sees you fighting to survive on an island polluted by radiation. It’s hard work, but once it gets going you find a massive game packed full of things to do.
Out There
A space-faring survival game where running out of oxygen will leave you dead in the deep vastness of space. It’s also full of exciting discoveries and weird alien races.
60 Seconds! Reatomized
Doomsday has arrived! Luckily, your prepping tendencies paid off and you have a working fallout shelter under the house… but you’d better be quick! Choose how to use your 60 second warning. The outcome after nuclear annihilation will depend both on your choices, and what (or who) you brought with you.
The Reatomized edition is the same price as the original, but comes with a bunch of new content, so we’d call that one the definitive.
60 Parsecs!
60 Seconds, but… space! You have a short amount of time to get your crew into the escape shuttle, and grab everything you need. What happens next? Well, that depends on what you grabbed, and what decisions you make in the days that follow.
